Leaves ranging from ovate-lanceolate to oblong-obovate, 4-12 cm long and 2.2-5 cm wide, leathery, with a once- or double-toothed edge. Petioles up to 2 cm long, glabrous. The upper surface of the leaf blade is dark green, glabrous, the bottom is light green, sometimes glandular on the veins. Stipules are linear.

Pink or white flowers, solitary or collected in 2-4 in umbrella inflorescences, bloom before the appearance of leaves or simultaneously with it. Stamens in the amount of 32-34, one length with a pestle, shorter than the petals.

The fruit is an ovoid drupe up to 1.5 cm in diameter, purple-black. The intruder is furrowed. Edible, has a sweet and sour taste.
