Biography

In 1967 he graduated from the Radio Polytechnic in Leningrad [1] . In 1967-1971 he studied at the Kachinsky Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots , at the end of which (with honors) he served there as an instructor pilot.

In 1979 he graduated from the Test Pilot Training Center at the 8th Air Force Research Institute named after Chkalova ( Akhtubinsk ). Since 1981 - on flight test work at the 8th Air Force Research Institute named after Chkalova (Akhtubinsk). He mastered and participated in the testing and development of more than 50 types and modifications of aircraft, including the MiG-29 RB, MiG-31 B, MiG-29 SM, Su-24 M, Su-27 . Performed 108 tests of various units of equipment, weapons, control systems, among them:

  • refueling of fighter and frontline aircraft,
  • refueling in the air at night and in extreme weather conditions.

In 1983 he graduated from the evening department of the Moscow Aviation Institute named after S. Ordzhonikidze [1] . In 1983-1998 - Head of the Air Force flight test service, chief pilot - Air Force tester [1] .

For courage and heroism shown during the testing of new aviation equipment, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 47 dated January 16, 1998, Colonel Shushunov Vladimir Dmitrievich was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

In 1998, he was transferred to the reserve [1] . Since 1999, he has been continuing flight test work as Deputy Flight Testing Chief Designer of FSUE MiG RSK .

Lives in Moscow .
