Vieux-Saint-Giron is located in Marensen , a historical region in the natural area of the Gascon Landes , in protected Land forests between the Atlantic coast and the Leon pond ( étang de Léon ). The beaches of Vieux-Saint-Girona are included in the string of resorts, called the French Silver Coast .
In the XIII century, the village of Saint-Giron, located on this site, had the status of a council and served as a refuge on which secular laws did not apply.
The commune was formed between 1790 and 1794 by the merger of two short-lived communes - Vielle [1] and Saint-Girons [2] .
Thus, currently the commune consists of two villages - Vieux and Saint-Giron .
On the territory of the commune is one of the production branches of the French enterprise DRT (harvesting of wood tar and terpenes ).
There are churches in both areas of the commune. In the immediate vicinity of the village of Vieille, the Ushe stream flows on its way to the ocean.
