Northern Volcanic Zone ( English Northern Volcanic Zone ) - a volcanic arc in the north-west of South America , one of the four volcanic zones of the Andean volcanic belt. The northern volcanic zone extends to the territory of Colombia and Ecuador , contains all the continental volcanoes of these countries. This volcanic arc was formed by subduction of the Nazca plate , moving under the South American plate .
