Biography
Fedor Kerdan was born on October 1, 1925 in the village of Bobrovka (now - Shipunovsky district of Altai Territory ). After graduating from six classes of the school, he worked at a brick factory. Since 1941, he lived in the village of Kantemirovka (now Koshkarata, Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan ), worked on a collective farm. In December 1942, Kerdan was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since August 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the Voronezh , 1st and 4th Ukrainian fronts. He participated in the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR , Poland , Czechoslovakia . By April 1945, Junior Sergeant Fyodor Kerdan was an assistant to the gunner of the battery of the 1672th separate fighter anti-tank artillery regiment of the 31st separate artillery brigade of the 126th rifle corps of the 38th army of the 4th Ukrainian Front. Distinguished himself during the Moravian-Ostrava operation [1] .
On April 8, 1945, as part of his calculation, Kerdan participated in repulsing a massive German counterattack by 36 tanks and 68 armored personnel carriers . The enemy managed to force the Soviet units to withdraw to reserve positions, but he failed to break through their defenses. On April 9, German troops again counterattacked with forces of 14 tanks, 3 assault guns and armored personnel carriers, as well as infantry units. In a fierce battle, of all the calculations, only Kerdan and gunner Rakhimzhan Tokataev remained. Together, they destroyed 9 tanks and 4 armored personnel carriers, thanks to which the enemy was not able to break through the Soviet defense. Kerdan in that battle received a shell shock , but continued to fight [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, Junior Sergeant Fedor Kerdan was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Gold medal for "exemplary performance of command missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism" Star . " Together with him, the title of Hero of the Soviet Union received Tokatayev [1] .
After the war, Kerdan continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1947, he graduated from the Chelyabinsk Military Aviation School of navigators and radio shooters . In 1950, with the rank of senior lieutenant technician, he was sacked. In 1951 he graduated from the Ulyanovsk School of Higher Flight Training , after which he worked in civil aviation. In 1964 he left his flight work. He lived in Minsk , worked as a mechanic at the Minsk airport, then at the Minsk instrument-making plant. In 1981 - 1987 he lived in Yalta , then returned to Minsk [1] .
He died on July 16, 2002 .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Belarusian order "For Service to the Motherland" of the 3rd degree, a number of medals and foreign awards [1] .
