Biography
Born on September 24, 1918 in a peasant family in the village of Beloye [1] of the Lapushinsky volost, Kurgan district of the Tyumen province . At that time, the territory of the province was under the control of the Siberian Republic .
In 1933 he graduated from a seven-year school and, in connection with the death of his father, went to his older brother in the city of Omsk [2] . After graduating from the Omsk Pedagogical College in 1937 , he worked as a history teacher in schools in the Azov and Maryanovsky districts of the Omsk region .
In 1940, Kayukin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He graduated from Tomsk Artillery School with an accelerated course. Since July 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He took part in the battles on the Western , Central and 1st Ukrainian fronts, was seriously wounded three times.
Since 1942, a member of the CPSU (b), since 1952 - the Communist Party .
By January 1945, Major Mikhail Kayukin commanded the division of the 34th Guards Artillery Regiment of the 6th Guards Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front. Distinguished himself during the forcing of the Oder [3] .
On January 26-29 , 1945, the Kayukin division was one of the first to cross the Oder in the vicinity of the city of Steinau (now Scinava , Poland ) and took an active part in the battles for the bridgehead on its western shore. The Kayukin gunners successfully repelled the German counterattacks for three days, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy in military equipment and manpower [3] .
In September 1945, Kayukin was sacked. He lived in Omsk and Sverdlovsk , was in senior positions in government institutions.
He died suddenly on April 7, 1965 [3] . He was buried in the Siberian cemetery .

- By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 10, 1945, Major Mikhail Kayukin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 4818 [4] .
