Biography
Mikhail Kashcheev was born on October 21, 1921 in Voronezh . He graduated from high school and first year at Voronezh State University . In October 1939, Kashcheev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . As part of the Soviet troops, he entered Iran in August 1941 . Since September of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles on the South-West , Stalingrad , Central , 1st Ukrainian fronts. Participated in the Battle of Stalingrad and Kursk , Belgorod-Kharkov operation . In battles, three times was slightly injured. By October 1943, the Guard, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Kashcheev, commanded the battery of the 200th Guards Light Artillery Regiment of the 3rd Guards Light Artillery Brigade of the 1st Guards Artillery Division to break through the 60th Army of the Central Front. He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On October 2, 1943, the Kashcheyev battery crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Gubin, the Chernobyl district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR . During the fighting on the bridgehead on the west bank from October 3 to 10, the Kashcheev artillerymen inflicted heavy losses on German troops in military equipment and manpower [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for the "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, senior lieutenant Mikhail Kashcheev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under the number 1898 [1] .
Later Kashcheev participated in the liberation of Western Ukraine, Poland , and battles in Germany . After the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1948 he graduated from the Higher Officer Artillery School, in 1956 - the Military Artillery Command Academy. Since July 1960 he served in the Strategic Missile Forces . In November 1973, with the rank of Colonel, Kashcheev was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Minsk , worked at the headquarters of the Civil Defense of the Byelorussian SSR . He died on December 31, 1982, was buried in the Eastern cemetery of Minsk [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, three orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
