Career

Club

Start

Josh Wright was born in Bethnal Green , one of London's districts, and began his football career at Charlton Athletic , with whom he signed a two-year professional contract in April 2007. Before joining the Charlton Academy at the age of 16, he attended schools in Chigwell and Lawton.

Leases

In August 2007, he went on loan to the Barnet [1] . After a successful lease, in which he scored his first goal in a match against Stockport County [2] and was named by fans as the best football player in November, the player returned to Charlton Athletic . A month later, he was again rented by Barnet , already before the end of the 2007/08 season.

September 19, 2008 Wright was taken on a monthly rental at Brentford . The lease was extended, but soon Alan Pardew decided to withdraw the player due to the large number of injuries in the main team. On October 25, 2008, he made his debut for the main team of Charlton in the match against Burnley , which ended in a draw 1: 1. Then, in March 2009, the footballer joined on a loan to Gillingham , where he remained until the end of the season [3] .

For the first time in the Jills, Wright played on April 4, 2009 in a match against Barnet , lost 2-0. The midfielder filed a corner from which Simon Jackson scored a goal in the League 2 playoff finals, which allowed Gillingham to enter the First League .

Scunthorpe United

In July 2009, Scunthorpe United was signed. He scored his first goal for the Irons in the Football League Cup match against Manchester United on September 22, 2010. Wright was one of 7 Scunthorpe United footballers released from the club as free agents in May 2011 [4] .

Millwall

After leaving Scunthorpe, Wright was injured, which prevented the player from finding a new club in the offseason, but in November 2011 he was signed by Millwall after a successful viewing [5] . Initially, Wright signed a short-term contract until the end of the January transfer window of 2012. The first match in the new club took place on January 3, when the player came on as a substitute for Najim Abdu . The club later extended the agreement until the end of the season [6] . On February 25, the footballer scored his first goal for Millwall in a match with Burnley . This blow, inflicted from 27 meters, was recognized by the fans as a goal of the season. At the end of the season, Wright signed a three-year contract with the Lions [7] .

Team

Wright made his debut with England (under 16) in March 2005 in a match with Japan. He also performed in the categories until 17, 18 and 19 years. In several matches he appeared as captain of U17 and U16.
