The form of sailors of the Amu Darya flotilla (1892) [1]

Flanelevka (also Dutch blue , “flank”, “flannel”, in the production of “uniform type A shirt”) - a formal uniform shirt of an ordinary and foreman of the Navy from dark blue dense high-quality woolen fabric (sailor's cloth), with a neckline chest and large turn - down collar . A flannel is worn with a uniform sailor collar, black cloth pants, a leather sailor belt with a brass buckle and chrome boots. Pogonchiki sewed according to military rank .

Flannel consists of a front, back, collar and sleeves . The front and back are solid. In the upper part of the front, in the middle, a cut. At the end of the cut, on the inside, there are two buttons, and on the back, near the collar, a loop for attaching the uniform collar. Collar wide turndown. Set-in sleeves with cuffs fastened on two metal shaped buttons of golden color. At the bottom of the side seams are cuts ( slots ).

For wearing on a watch, the flannel cotton variant was used, made of thick soft cotton fabric (velveteen) of dark blue color (on the “guard” slang). [2]

Initially, the flannel had a small collar and in cold weather was worn over a white uniform shirt ( uniform ) of the same cut, the blue collar of which was let out. The color of the collar could vary depending on the belonging to a particular fleet. With the advent of a separately sewn uniform sailor’s collar, the woolen flannel got an enlarged collar of the same size, on top of which the sailor’s collar is put on and fastened to the flannel with two buttons in the lower part of the section and a loop on the back.
