History
Bulgaria held the first international match in 1963, when it was largely lost to Romania (3:70). The first attempt to qualify for the World Cup was made by the Bulgarians only on the eve of the 1999 Welsh World Cup . Bulgaria played in the second group of round A , but could not go further.
Before the 2003 championship, Bulgaria ended up in Group B of the first qualifying round. Despite the victory won in one of the matches, the Bulgarians dropped out of the fight. In the new qualification, the team finally went further than the first round and ended up in group D as part of the second. As a result, Bulgaria did not reach the final part of the championship.
