Biography

Born July 20, 1922 in the village of Gorki in the family of a peasant. Russian. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1942. He graduated from 8 classes. He worked as a forwarder in the machine and tractor station of the Kexholm region (Karelia).

In the Red Army since August 1941. In the battles of World War II from September 1941. He fought on the Leningrad Front as part of the 42nd Army . Participated in defensive battles at the Pulkovo border . In July 1942, gunner of the 5th artillery regiment of anti-tank defense, Corporal Makarov was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

The calculation commander of the 76-mm gun of the 1973rd fighter-anti-tank artillery regiment, senior sergeant Makarov, on the night of March 10, 1944, in the battles for an altitude of 40.3 at the approaches to Pskov, when repelling an enemy infantry and tanks attack, he rolled the cannon to an open position, direct fire destroyed 20 enemy soldiers. When the cannon was put out of action, it repelled ten enemy counterattacks with personal weapons and grenades. He was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield.

March 31, 1944 was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree (No. 17528).

During the period from July 16 to July 28, 1944, during fights north-west of the village of Pushkinskiye Gory , firing direct fire, destroyed two bunkers, made three passes in wire fences, destroyed two open machine guns and exterminated up to 30 enemy soldiers.

July 21, 1944 in the area of ​​the village of Elina burst into the enemy’s position and directly hit the anti-tank gun, captured two German soldiers and delivered them to headquarters.

On August 24, 1944 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree (No. 805).

Subsequently, he participated in the battles to liberate the Pskov region and Latvia during the Rezhitsa-Dvina , Madona and Riga operations , defeating the enemy’s Kurland group .

On December 21, 1944, in the area of Aizlekni-Tserini (Latvia), three easel and three light machine guns were suppressed from the gun, which ensured the successful advance of the infantry.

On December 22, 1944, he replaced the out-of-command platoon commander and repelled four enemy counterattacks, destroying up to 20 soldiers, knocked out two self-propelled guns.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945 he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree (awarded in 1951). He became the full holder of the Order of Glory.

After the war, continued to serve in the army, graduated from a military school. In 1974 he was transferred to the reserve with the rank of colonel. He worked as an engineer at the Leningrad Intercity Telephone Exchange. Participant of the Victory Parades on Red Square in Moscow on June 24, 1945 and May 9, 1985. He was the chairman of the club of full cavaliers of the Order of Glory, a member of the presidium of the Leningrad section of war veterans.

He lived in Leningrad. He died on September 3, 1994. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Gorskaya (now the Kurortny District of St. Petersburg).
