Editions

The first edition of the Red Book of the Chelyabinsk region was published in 2005 with a circulation of 1000 copies. In 2011-2012, the publication was replenished with new types. [2] The Red Book of the Chelyabinsk Region is an official publication intended both for specialists and for a wide range of readers.

It was prepared by specialists from the Ministry of Radiation and Environmental Safety of the Chelyabinsk Region, Ilmen State Reserve named after V.I. Lenin, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg), Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University, Arkaim Museum-Reserve, Ural State Pedagogical University (Yekaterinburg), Botanical Garden of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg) with the support of the administration Chelyabinsk region. The book presents a list of rare and endangered plants and animals of the Chelyabinsk region, which includes 337 species: 161 species of plants (lichens - 11, bryophytes - 7, fern-shaped - 9, gymnosperms - 1, angiosperms - 133) and 30 species of mushrooms; 176 species of animals (mollusks - 3, insects - 95, fish - 5, amphibians - 3, reptiles - 5, birds - 48, mammals - 17). For each species, illustrations, a distribution map are given, the status and category of rarities are determined, a brief description, information on the number and necessary protection measures are given.

The publication also includes:

  • list of wildlife objects that need special attention to their condition in the natural environment - 10 species;
  • list of plant world objects that disappeared from the territory of the Chelyabinsk region - 5 species;
  • the list of plant world objects that need special attention to their condition in the natural environment is 72 species.

The second edition of the Red Book of the Chelyabinsk Region was published in 2017 with a circulation of 1000 copies and includes 442 species, including: 17 mammals, 48 ​​birds, 5 reptiles, 3 amphibians, 5 fish, 95 insects, 4 spiders, 4 mollusks, 1 worm, 230 plants and 30 mushrooms.
