The Red Book of the Ulyanovsk Region is an official document containing an annotated list of rare and endangered animals, plants and mushrooms of the Ulyanovsk Region , information about their condition and distribution, as well as the necessary protection measures. Established by the Law of the Ulyanovsk Region of 2002 [1] [2] .

The first edition, which included rare species of animals and mushrooms, was published in 2004 (Ulyanovsk, 2004) [3] . The publication of the Red Book of the Ulyanovsk Region, published in 2008, includes 500 species of plants, fungi and animals, including 188 species of flowering plants, 3 species of gymnosperms, 8 - ferns, 3 - plauniform, 1 - horsetail, 20 - mossy, 21 mushrooms, 32 - lichens, 1 - mollusks, 126 - insects (1 - dragonflies , 3 - orthoptera , 47 - beetoptera , 2 - reticuliformes , 36 - lepidoptera , 34 - hymenoptera , 3 - dipterans ), 2 - amphibians, 5 - reptiles , 13 - fish, 59 - birds and 19 species of mammals.
