Biography
In 1942 he graduated from high school in the village of Slavic of the Krasnodar Territory. In March 1943 he was drafted into the Red Army. Member of World War II . [2]
In 1951 he graduated from the History Department of Kharkov State University .
In 1951-1954 studied at graduate school at the Department of Marxism-Leninism of KSU.
In 1954 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of historical sciences on the topic "The struggle of the Bulgarian Communist Party to raise the cultural level of the working masses (1949-1952)" [3] .
In 1967 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences on the topic "Bulgarian Communists in the struggle for the implementation of the cultural revolution (1944-1958)." [four]
From 1954 to 1979 - Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of History of the CPSU of KSU. From 1979 to 1988 - Head of the Department of New and Contemporary History of the Faculty of History of the same university. At the Faculty of History, he gave a general lecture course on the recent history of the countries of Europe and America, a special course on the history of Bulgaria. He made a significant contribution to the training of specialists in the field of Bulgarian. [1] His students are historians V. V. Boyko, L. L. Dubova, A. I. Elkin, S. Yu. Lukash, L. P. Reshetnikov , M. G. Stanchev , S. Yu. Strashnyuk , A I. Tumakov and A.P. Chizhov . [1] [5]
He has published over 130 scientific, popular science and educational works in the field of Bulgarian studies. He was a member of the editorial board of the journals " New and Contemporary History " and " Bulletin of Kharkov University " (series "History"), a member of specialized Councils for the defense of doctoral and master's theses. Under the scientific supervision of G. N. Popov, more than 30 dissertations were defended. He was awarded state awards of the USSR and the People's Republic of Bulgaria.
