Story
The action takes place in the late 20s of the XX century, when cinema was actively developing. JC Daniel, who knows nothing about cinema, but inspired by the idea of making the first film in his native land, in Kerala, lives on this dream. He goes to Madras to a film studio to learn how to create a movie, since it was the center of cinema in South India. He travels to Bombay , where cinema (now known as Bollywood ) flourished.
Filming the film was a huge cost, and JC Daniel decides to sell his inheritance property to buy the necessary equipment, hire staff, and rent a studio.
In those days, it was customary to make films based on stories from the Mahabharata or Ramayana, but JC Daniel was burning with ideas to shoot a social drama, rather than another biography of heroes and deities. So the scenario of “The Lost Child” ( Vigathakumaran ) will be born.
But in front of JC Daniel there was a problem with finding the actress for the role. In those days, female roles were played by men, since it was believed that only fallen women could be actresses. JC Daniel went to Bombay, because there the cinema was actively developing and such prejudices receded into the background. However, he could not agree with the actress, since he could not provide the luxurious conditions that were required. As a result, he finds a girl playing in theatrical productions - kakarishi (Indian folk dance). This girl - Rosamma - turned out to be from the untouchable caste. And she was to play the role of a lady from the Naira . What was doubly risky in a conservative society.
JC Daniel was an innovator, not afraid to take risks, was deprived of prejudice, but all this was not timely. And the fate of this person was more dramatic than any movie.

For the role of the first Malayalam movie actress, the director and screenwriter Kamal was looking for a “fresh” face, and the choice fell on Chandni.
