Content
Biography
He was the prefect of the Kharkov Collegium .
In 1753 he was appointed rector of the Kharkov Collegium .
In June 1758 became the prior of the Svyatogorsk desert .
At that time, three types of monastic life developed in the desert: cohabitation, skete and hermit. When he was in the monastery was built Peter and Paul temple. To protect the monastery from the Tatar raids with it behind the hermitage on the holy place between the mountains, under the leadership of the monk Jacob-gunner, a defensive wall and a platform in the form of a battery were built.
10 [23] February 1765 , died, leaving behind no property. He was buried in the Peter and Paul Church, later on this place was located the brotherly Peter and Paul cemetery, hidden during the Soviet years.
After the failure in the XIX century in one of the crypts at the brotherly cemetery, his relics, as well as the relics of archimandrites Joel and Faddey, were found incorruptible.
Canonization
May 8, 2008 The decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church [1] made a decision on the local canonization of the devotee in the Donetsk Diocese , in the Cathedral of the Svyatogorsk Saints ( September 11 (24) ).
The rite of glorification of the ascetic took place during his visit to Svyatogorsk Lavra on July 12, 2008, of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Most Blessed Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Vladimir [2] , in the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra.
