Migration science

Migration is a science that studies the migration movement of the population, due to socio-economic relations.

The subject of migration is emigration and immigration of the population , the study of which is carried out using the methods and data of related social sciences and disciplines - demography, sociology, law, migration statistics, psychology, population statistics, economics, population geography. By tradition, the problems of studying migration were mainly dealt with within the framework of sociology, however, over time, research in this area brought in new methodological approaches and research methods traditionally inherent in other sciences (demography, ethnology, etc.).

In the development of migration science, one can trace the stages that reflect the formation of the discipline itself, the development of a general level of scientific knowledge in the social sciences, institutional formation, and the change in the leading paradigms. [1] [2] [3]

The main tasks of migrationology are: classification of various types of migration, analysis of the features of modern migration flows, related economic, legal, social problems, identification of the main factors and causes of migration, development and improvement of methods for accounting and regulation of migration at the global, national and regional levels. Due to the particular importance of the acute political, economic and social issues that migration deals with, these studies are often ideologized, and the organization of scientific institutions is highly prone to conjuncture.
