On June 25, 2013 he won the ONF primaries for the post of head of the city of Novokuznetsk, and on July 10, 2013 he was registered as a candidate for the post of head of the city. Since August 6, he went on election leave, in connection with which the duties of the mayor were performed by Evgeny Manuzin ^[3] .

On September 8, 2013, on Unified Voting Day, he was elected Head of the city of Novokuznetsk ^[4] .
