Background and Release
She wrote the words and music of the song on her own [1] .
At the end of 2011, the singer presented the acoustic version of the song at a presentation dedicated to the official opening of the new Facebook music service in conjunction with Yandex.Music, where the performer acted as the headliner of the event. For the first time, MakSim performed the song at her recital in Crocus City Hall on February 12, 2012. The song premiered on December 21, 2011 on the ELLO channel ( YouTube hosting) [2] . September 4, 2012 the song was released as a single through the TopHit system [3] .
As the singer herself said, ““ This is me ”can be emotionally attributed to my past personal life, but this is not an autobiographical song, it is dedicated to a small fairy tale in my head that I myself invented.”
In 2013, MakSim represented Russia at the international vocal interactive competition OGAE Song Contest with the song “It's Me” [4] .
Video clip
In support of the song, the singer presented a video clip that was filmed specifically for display on the Internet. The video was directed by Vadim Shatrov . The plot of the clip is based on the classic story of the relationship of Romeo and Juliet, told in a modern way. In addition to the new visual solution, the singer used a new arrangement different from the original version of the song.
I like to experiment, search, work with new people - this is how creativity is born. This video I myself perceive as a new experience, a new image - maybe a little frank, but it is correct and close to me frankness.

Criticism Reaction
Critics gave the song positive ratings. According to Alexey Mazhaev of Intermedia , “the song returns to its fans a frank and touching Maxim, but at a new level” [9] .
On the website of the newspaper Kommersant , they considered that ““ It's me ”is the blues, and in some cases almost acid jazz. However, the singer’s poetic mood has not lost appeal to impressionable virgins: “I’m forbidden to meet with you, I’m not your forgiven” ” [10] .
