Eva Maria Westbrook was born in the family of geologist Peter Westbrook . From 1988 to 1995 she studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague . Her teachers were Italian soprano Iris Adami Corradetti and American tenor James McCray .
The singer's opera debut took place in 1994 as part of the festival in Oldboro in Francis Pulenka ’s opera Dialogues of the Carmelites . A year later, Eva Maria became a laureate of the international vocal competition in Rome. Having won two more vocal competitions in Italy, the singer, for personal reasons, suspended her musical career for several years and was even forced to work as a waitress for some time. In 2001, she signed a five-year contract with the Stuttgart Opera House [1] . She also performed at other leading opera houses in the world: the Bastille Opera , the Royal Theater of Covent Garden , and the Netherlands Opera .
In 2011, Eva Maria Westbrook became the first leading woman in the premiere of Marc Anthony Turnidge ’s opera Anna Nicole », Dedicated to the American model and actress Anna Nicole Smith [2] .
The singer’s husband is the Dutch tenor Frank van Aken .
