Geography
It is located near the main passage of the Trans-Siberian Railway , at the platform “692 km” , at the Vetluga River .
History
According to the lists of populated places of the Russian Empire in 1872, the village belonged to the 3rd camp of the Vetluzhsky district of the Kostroma province . It consisted of 13 yards , there lived 62 men and 55 women. In the village there was a tannery. [2]
According to the 1897 census , 147 people lived in the village (67 men and 80 women). [3]
According to the List of populated areas of the Kostroma province in 1907, the village belonged to the Nikolo-Shangsky volost of the Vetluzhsky district of the Kostroma province. According to the volost administration for 1907 there were 25 peasant households and 197 inhabitants in the village. The main occupation of the villagers was working on the railway. [3]
According to the Law of the Kostroma region of April 24, 2017 No. 229-6-WKO [4], Besneg was transferred from the abolished Varakinsk rural settlement to the Shekshem rural settlement.
