Biography
Born in the family courtyard landowner. In 1847 he received a holiday pay. Educated at the St. Petersburg Theater School and some time playing on stage in St. Petersburg and in the province. Consisted, like his sister Ekaterina Zhuleva (Nebolsina) , in the troupe of the Alexandrinsky Theater (1853-1875).
Creativity
His first literary experiments appeared in Iskra ( 1860 ) and drew the attention of V. S. Kurochkin . Distinguished by great creative fecundity, in almost every issue of Iskra, Zhulev placed a poem, and sometimes several, being, in addition, an active employee of the Alarm Clock , the Petersburg Newspaper , the Petersburg Leaf, and Dragonflies . In the weekly "Dragonfly" Zhulev edited the poetic section.
Signed with pseudonyms "Mournful Poet", "Debutant", "Gus" and others. In the poems of Zhulev, there is also a bilious, indignant, but the majority is imbued with innocuous humor with all his enthusiasm. Many of them entered the repertoire of actors-readers of the XIX and early XX centuries . Of the works chosen by the author himself, two collections of Songs of the Sorrowful Poet ( 1863 ) and Ba! familiar all faces !!! Rhymes of the Debutant (the Sorrowful Poet) ”( 1871 ). On the first collection of Gabriel Zhulev Saltykov-Shchedrin wrote that

Several plays were written jointly with Chernyshev, A. A. Sokolov , N. A. Leikin . Together with S. N. Khudekov, Zhulyov wrote a comedy with the verses "Petersburg Claws", which had long been staged at various stages of St. Petersburg , Moscow , and also in the provinces.
