Description

Very small chalcidoid riders (body length less than 0.8 mm), endoparasitoids of thrips of the thrips of the family Thripidae . Fore wings very narrow with long setae, the length of which exceeds the maximum width of the wing membrane. Mace of antennae 3-segmented. Skutellum with 1 pair of dorsal setae ( Entedoninae ). Among the hosts, representatives of the order of small thrips insects ( Thysanoptera : Caliothrips insularis , Ceratothripoides claratris , Dinurothrips hookeri , Frankliniella occidentalis , Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis , Hercinothrips femoralis , common species , and other species of common and other species , common plants, ), Legumes ( cultivated peanuts ), Laurel ( avocado ), Solanaceae ( tomato ), Malva ( cocoa ). The species Goetheana pushkini was found on the thrips Pseudodendrothrips mori (on plants from the Mulberry family ), and the species Goetheana rabelaisi Triapitsyn, 2005 on thrips Anophothrips exocarpi (on plants from the Santalaceae family). Goetheana is included in the monophyletic group of the genera Ceranisus , Thripobius, and Entedonastichus , differing from them in the expanded form of the male tendril scapus [4] [2] [3] .

The genus was first isolated in 1920 by the American entomologist Alexander Zhiro (1884-1941) and named after Goethe on the basis of the type species Goetheana shakespearei Girault, 1920 , which was originally included in the Mymaridae family [4] [2] .

Classification

The genus includes 4 species [4] :

  • Goetheana incerta Annecke , 1962 - South Africa , Swaziland
  • Goetheana pushkini Trjapitsyn , 2005 - South Korea , Japan [4]
  • Goetheana rabelaisi Trjapitsyn, 2005 - Australia [4]
  • Goetheana shakespearei Girault , 1920 - Australia , Africa , North, Central and South America , East, South and Southeast Asia [4] [5] [6] [7]
