History
The club was founded in 1919 under the name FC Bregenz. The colors of the club were black and white. Until 1927, they played only friendly matches against teams from Germany and Switzerland . In 1927, they played for the first time in the Vorarlberg League. Already in 1928 they became the champion of Vorarlberg. In 1938, after the occupation of Austria by fascist Germany, they formed the Bodensi-Vorarlberg with other teams from the Bezirksklasse region. Due to World War II, the League was disbanded in 1942.
After the war, FC Bregenz was re-founded under the name SC Schwartz-Weiss Bregenz. Until 1999, the club played under different names in the second Austrian league. In 1999, FC Bregenz entered the Austrian Bundesliga, where he played until the 2004/05 season. Due to financial problems, they could not get a license and declared bankruptcy of the club. A new club was founded for young players - SC Bregenz. Although from a legal point of view Bregenz is a new club, but supporters saw in it a replacement for the old club. Since 2007, this club has been playing in the West Regional League (level 3).
