Andri Laffita Hernández ( Spanish: Andry Laffita Hernández ; March 26, 1978 , Pinar del Rio ) - Cuban flyweight champion, played for the Cuban national team in the 2000s. Biography
Andri Laffitte was born March 26, 1978 in the province of Pinar del Rio . The first serious success in the ring was achieved in 1996, when he won the gold medal in the flyweight category at the junior world championship [1] . Nevertheless, further in his career there was a certain decline, and in the period 1999-2001 he was generally disqualified, suspended from competing for the use of prohibited steroids. In 2003, he returned to the national team, and since 2005, after his main rival on the team, Yuriorkis Gamboa, changed the weight category, he began to go to major international tournaments. In particular, he won a silver medal at the World Cup in Moscow and managed to reach the finals at the World Championships in Mianyang - in the decisive match with a score of 22:33, he lost to Korean Lee Ok Sun.
In 2008, Laffitta won the silver medal at the World Cup for the second time and qualified for the Beijing Summer Olympics , defeated three of his rivals, but lost 2: 8 to the Thai Somchit Chongchokhor in the final. Having received a silver Olympic medal, he decided to end his career as an athlete. Nevertheless, in 2010 he returned to big boxing, began to enter the ring again, however, he was already unable to break into the main team.
