The station was opened on March 27, 1976 .
The opening of the station is timed to the commissioning of the 1st stage of the Washington Underground system, represented by 5 stations (all on the Red Line): Farragut North, Metro Center , Judiceri Square , Union Station , Rhode Island Avenue - Brentwood . On October 28, 2011, an underground pedestrian crossing was opened to the Farragut-West station, served by the Blue , Orange and Silver [2] lines, thanks to which you can make a connection between the stations for free in 30 minutes on foot [3]
