Dou Mu Gong Temple

Dou Mu Gong Temple ( China : 斗母宫) is a Taoist temple located in the Serangong district of Singapore . The place of worship is Dou Mu (斗 母) and the Ninth Emperor (九 皇 大帝), Taoist and Buddhist deities. All over China, there are many other temples dedicated to Dou Mu (for example, on Taishan Mountain).

History

The temple was built in 1921 by Ong Choo Wee. It conducted rituals for the Chaozhou people. Until 1998, it was one of two temples in Singapore with performances of Chinese opera during religious and other festivals.

January 14, 2005 the temple was declared a national historical monument of Singapore.
