A river flows between Santry and Ballymoon , passes through Beaumont and Artein, and flows into Racheni . In Racheni, the river becomes one of the features of St. Anne's Park, passes through the Dublin arboretum; it is decorated with several decorative bridges, forms a duck pond.
In order to avoid flooding, there is a drainage system between the Naniken and Santri rivers.
The river is mentioned in Roddy Doyle's book, A Star by the Name of Henry.
