Clerodendrum

Klerodendrum ( lat. Clerodéndrum ) - deciduous shrubs or small trees, sometimes creepers; genus of plants of the subfamily Zhivuchkovye ( Ajugoideae ) of the family Lamiaceae ( Lamiaceae ) [2] .

Distribution and Ecology

According to the database of The Plant List , the genus includes 308 species [3] .

Species of this genus grow mainly in tropical and subtropical regions of the Earth. Natural range: Africa , Asia ( India , Indochina , China , Korea , Japan , Philippines ), America , Australia .

The plant is thermophilic. Most species are concentrated in the tropics and subtropics. Only a few species are found in temperate climates. [four]

In Culture

Many species are cultivated, the most common: Clodendrum Thompson, Clodendrum Wollich, Clodendrum Ugandan, Clodendrum Philippine, Clodendrum spezozum, Clodendrum triple and Clodendrum Bunge .

Clodendrum tripartite - bush or small deciduous tree up to 10 m tall.

Location and soil

Clerodendrum needs a sheltered sunny spot with well-drained soil. When planting, peat is added to the soil.

Reproduction

Clerodendrum propagates by sowing seeds in spring or by separating rooted lateral shoots.
