Stefana graduated from school in her native village, and later graduated from the agricultural school in Gabrovo. After college, she went to work at the Brothers Georgiev's knitwear factory in the city (now the Storm Factory). There, Stefan met progressively minded workers, began to participate in their demonstrations and strikes.
During the Second World War, Stephen joined the Resistance Movement. On February 25, 1943, the police arrested the girl, but she escaped from custody, and then joined the Gabrovo - Sevlievsky partisan detachment. Thanks to her extraordinary courage, will and intransigence, Stephen received the nickname "The Storm."
On November 5, 1943, she died in a shootout with the police , near the village of Malkochevo. She was buried near the village. On September 9, 1944, the village was renamed Storm in honor of the nickname of the partisan, and a monument was later unveiled there. Also, a plant in Gabrovo and a library in Lesicharka were named after Stefana.
