Performance Press
“Washington's thriving lawyer, Ken Ludwig, wrote the play Borrow a Tenor!” about ten years ago and accidentally ran into great success - he put on Broadway, and not only. In the Pushkin Theater, too, it turned out. Firstly, the main role is played by the ex-soloist of the Smash! Group Sergey Lazarev, who with artistic ease played a hero who constantly finds himself in ridiculous situations. Secondly, the male version of "Cinderella" will amaze anyone who secretly dreams of great success. And finally - how many well-done performances of well-made plays in Moscow? ”
- Kristina Matvienko, “Theater Poster” [1]
“In the production of the Pushkin Theater, the rapid rhythm of a crazy day was successfully caught. Heroes do not walk, but burst in, run in, flush. Sharing cues in the best of minutes is like fencing. To deliver speeches and for vocal numbers, the characters climb into chairs (as in childhood to read a rhyme in front of the guests) and bow to the audience . ”
- Olga Egoshina, “Novye Izvestia” [2]
“... Around the unpretentious plot and the action is spinning, hilariously funny. Another condition for a qualitative result is a sense of proportion. Director Evgeny Pisarev, as it turned out, possesses them in full. The charm of his performance in accurate and delicate calculation, the director did not allow himself anything extra, here even the reaction of the public is accurately calculated. Not to mention how correctly perceived the lead actor.
And the main secret of success lies in the fact that such lightness from the sky almost does not fall on anyone, it can be achieved with serious work, which now seems to many to be completely optional. That's why Tenor is so excited and excited . ”

“In general, it’s worth rejoicing for the Moscow Art Theater, which graduates such versatile artists. Alexander Arsentiev (Tito Merelli), one of the leading young masters of the Pushkin troupe, did not appear on the stage, but he also sings - God forbid everyone ... And what opera roulades sometimes gives Irina Byakova (Julia)! And how temperamental Ilya Khripunov boldly introduces his minor character, named Messenger in the hotel, into the main circle of characters! Yes, you can’t say anything, all of its participants, headed by the director, approached the comic undertaking seriously . ”
