Ivan Nikitich Ozerov ( 1919 - 1962 ) - senior lieutenant of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army , participant in the Great Patriotic War , Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1944 ).

Biography
Ivan Ozerov was born on July 7, 1919 in the village of Dmitriyevka (now the Shebekinsky district of the Belgorod region ). He graduated from the Belgorod College of Political Education. In 1939, Ozerov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. In 1942, Ozerov graduated from advanced training courses for command personnel. By September 1943, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Ozerov commanded a battalion of the 465th Infantry Regiment of the 167th Infantry Division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front [1] .
On September 30, 1943, Ozerov’s battalion was one of the first to cross the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Vyshhorod, Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR, and seized a bridgehead on its western shore, and then held it until the main forces arrived, repelling a number of German counterattacks [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944, for “courage and heroism shown in crossing the Dnieper and holding the bridgehead,” Senior Lieutenant Ivan Ozerov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3909 [1 ] .
In March 1944, Ozerov was sacked. He lived in Kiev , worked in the city department of public catering. He died suddenly on September 2, 1962, and was buried at the Lukyanovsky military cemetery in Kiev [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and a number of medals [1] .
