William Gorsley ( Horsley , Eng. William Horsley ; November 18, 1774 , London - June 12, 1858 , London ) - English organist , composer and music teacher . The father of musician Charles Edward Horsley and artist John Calcott Horsley .

Biography
William Gorsley was born on November 18, 1774 in the city of London.
He studied music in private, since 1794 he worked as an organist, including under the direction of John Callcott , whose Glees he published with biography and analysis. The founder of the club Concentores Sodales, similar to Catchclub'y and Gleeclub'y (noun. 1798-1487). Published “Vocal harmony” (5 volumes of different ancient authors). He wrote 40 canons, church compositions, sonatas, piano plays, romances, etc. In addition, he edited the new edition of “Cantiones sacrae” by William Bird .
Among his students was, in particular, John Pake Gull .
William Gorsley died on June 12, 1858 in his hometown.
