He graduated from the Paris College of Saint-Barb, where he studied ancient and new literature, then also studied law. He served in the Ministry of the Interior, then worked on the protection of historical monuments in the Office for the Arts and finally entered the diplomatic service, for more than 30 years serving as consul of France in various Balkan cities: Belgrade ( 1854 - 1863 ), Mostar ( 1863 - 1865 and 1875 - 1878 ), Plovdiv ( 1865 - 1869 ), Yanina ( 1869 - 1875 ), Cyprus ( 1878 - 1881 ) and in Thessaloniki ( 1881 - 1885 ) [2] . During his service he studied Serbian, Bulgarian and Albanian languages and the folklore of these peoples. He compiled, translated and published collections of Serbian ( 1859 ) and Bulgarian ( 1875 ) folk songs and a collection of Albanian legends ( 1881 ). An important event in the study of the Albanian language was the Dozen-released “Textbook of the Albanian Language” ( Fr. Manuel de la langue chkipe ou albanaise ; 1879 ); The introduction of the concept of admiration in this book by Dozon, which became, as V. A. Plungyan , the starting point for research of both the miraculous proper and evidentiality , was of particular importance for linguistics [3] .
