Pyotr Tananaev was born on July 22, 1914 in the village of Ploskoe (now - the Pristensky district of the Kursk region ). He graduated from one course at the Kursk Pedagogical Institute . In 1934, Tananaev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1937, he graduated from the Kachin Military Aviation School of Pilots . Since May 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By May 1945, Major Peter Pyotr Tananaev commanded a squadron of the 20th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 13th Guards Bomber Air Division of the 2nd Guards Bomber Air Corps of the 18th Air Army . During his participation in the battles, he made 243 sorties to bombard important targets of the enemy’s military-industrial complex in his deep rear [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, for the "exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command to destroy the enemy’s military-industrial facilities and the courage and heroism shown" of the guard, Major Peter Tananaev was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under the number 8082 [1] .

After the war, Tananaev continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1948, he graduated from advanced training courses for the Air Force officers. In 1952, Tananaev was sacked. He lived in Kiev . He died on December 22, 1981, was buried at the Lukyanovsky military cemetery in Kiev [1] .

He was awarded two orders of Lenin, orders of the Red Banner , Alexander Nevsky , Red Star , medals [1] .
