Piophila is a genus of insects of the order Diptera of the family Piophilidae . Includes 35 known species [1] [2] . The most typical representative is Piophila casei ( cheese fly ) [3] .

Description
The eyes are bare, the braces are short, the seta is bare, the proboscis is swollen at the base, with wide lips, the chest is slightly convex, the abdomen is elongated, the wings are long, with very tender veins [3] .
As with all dipterans, only the front pair of wings is used for flight, while the rear wings are reduced in size and modified into halter , which serve to maintain balance in the air.
