Cyril of Chelmogorsky (September 1285 - December 8, 1368 ) - Russian Orthodox saint , reverend , one of the first, most ancient deserter monks who came to Obonezhie .

Biography
In 1316, St. Cyril, a veteran of the Novgorod Anthony Monastery , chose Mount Chelma for permanent residence near Lake Lekshmozero in the Chudsk lands.
He spent the first winter in a cave, then built a wooden cell and a chapel . Towards the end of St. Cyril all the local chud was baptized. For the converts, a church was built in the name of the Epiphany of the Lord.
The monk lived on Chelmnaya Hill for 52 years. He was buried in the chapel, on the north side of the Epiphany Church.
Ten years after the death of St. Cyril, in 1378, Hieromonk Arseny founded the Cyril-Chelmogorsky monastery .
In 2005, Bishop Tikhon of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogorsky consecrated a worship cross near the ruins of a former monastery in memory of St. Cyril of Chelmogorsky.
The spruce and cave of Cyril of Chelmogorsky are revered by the inhabitants of the villages adjacent to the monastery.
