Player Career
He played as an attacking defender and light forward . He studied at the University of Kentucky , in 1971 he was selected for the NBA draft under the 37th number by the Portland Trail Blazers team and spent his entire sports career in this club. In total, the NBA spent 9 seasons. In the 1976/1977 season, Steele became the NBA champion in Portland. Once was the leader of the regular NBA interception championship ( 1974 ). He was assigned number 15 at the Blazers. In total, he played 610 games in his NBA career, scoring 5009 points (8.2 on average per game), 1781 rebounds , 1719 assists , 846 interceptions and 96 block shots .
Coaching career
After completing his professional career, Steele served as head coach at the Portland Pilots University Team (1987-1994), serving at the NCAA .
