Station Design

Structurally, the Zaragizh Hydroelectric Power Station is a typical derivational power plant with a pressureless supply derivation in the form of a channel. A feature of the station is the absence of a dam. The outlet channel of the Aushiger hydroelectric station goes directly to the derivation channel of the Zaragizh hydroelectric station, the length of which is 3.3 km. The canal consists of two parts - the canal itself 1.7 km long, and the reinforced concrete channel-chute 2.6 km long. The channel ends with a pressure pool with a capacity of 600 thousand m³, in which water accumulates before being fed to the turbines. The pool is equipped with a spillway. From the pool through a metal conduit, water enters the hydroelectric power station building, where after having worked at three hydraulic units, it returns to Cherek via a 1.3 km long discharge channel.

The installed capacity of hydroelectric power plants is 30.6 MW, the average annual electricity generation is 114 million kWh. Composition of structures:

  • a derivation channel 1.7 km long;
  • reinforced concrete channel-tray 1.6 km long;
  • pressure basin with a capacity of 600 thousand m³;
  • idle spillway;
  • water intake;
  • three metal turbine conduits;
  • hydroelectric building;
  • outlet channel;
  • Outdoor switchgear 110 kV.

Three vertical hydraulic units with a capacity of 10.2 MW each with radial-axial turbines HL-LJ-175 operating at a design head of 44 m are installed in the hydroelectric power station. The turbines drive the SF10.28-18 / 4560 hydrogenerators. Turbines and generators manufactured in China by Zhefu Holding Group Co. Ltd. The station is controlled by the Kashhatau hydroelectric station.

History

Design

Initially, the Zaragiha Hydroelectric Power Station was designed as a small hydropower station of the MNTO INSET for the following parameters: the capacity of the hydroelectric power station is 15.6 MW, and the average annual output is 64.5 million kWh. Composition of structures:

  • a water intake structure consisting of an automatic spillway and a four-span gateway regulator;
  • 0.6 km non-pressure derivation channel;
  • pressure derivative pipeline with a diameter of 4.4 m and a length of 2.02 km;
  • hydroelectric building;
  • outlet channel.

In the building of the hydroelectric station, 6 propeller hydraulic units with a capacity of 2.5 MW each were to be installed, operating at a design pressure of 30 m at a design flow rate of 10 m³ / s (each). The project’s operator was the New Energy Fund, controlled by RusHydro, with a total investment of 921 million rubles. The construction of the hydroelectric power station was included in the federal program “South of Russia”. In January 2008, OJSC “Small Hydroelectric Power Plants of the KBR” was created to implement the hydroelectric power station project. The launch of the hydroelectric station was scheduled for December 2009, but in fact the construction of the station for this project was not started. In 2010-2011, the hydroelectric station was redesigned by the Hydroproject Institute for large capacity (initially 28.8 MW, already during the construction process the capacity was increased to 30.6 MW) and with a different composition of structures.

Construction

The construction of the station was launched in the fall of 2011. By March 2013, the station's readiness was about 30%, the construction of the derivation was close to completion [1] . In September 2014, the first concrete was laid at the base of the HPP building [2] . In 2015, installation of turbines, generators, and the frame of the hydroelectric power station building began [3] . The launch of the station took place on December 29, 2016 [4] .
