Necil Kazım Akses ( tour: Necil Kazım Akses ; May 6, 1908 , Istanbul , Ottoman Empire - February 16, 1999 , Ankara , Turkey ) - Turkish composer and music teacher, member of the Turkish Five . [1] One of the founders of the Turkish school of classical music. He is the author of The Ankara Citadel, a symphonic poem for piano, Miniatures, concerts for violin and viola with orchestra, five symphonies, four string quartets, four operas.

He played an important role in the founding of the State Conservatory in Ankara in 1948. For some time he was the rector of this educational institution. He headed the State Opera and Ballet Theater in Ankara. In 1971, he was one of the first to receive the title of State Artist of Turkey.
Biography
He studied music and composition at the Music Academy in Vienna under Joseph Marx and at the Prague Conservatory in Prague with Joseph Suk and Alois Gab . [2] Together with composer Paul Hindemith, he founded the State Conservatory in Ankara. For some time he served as rector of the conservatory.
Together with composers Ahmed Adnan Saigun , Ulvi Jemal Erkin , Jemal Reshit Rey and Hassan Ferit Alnar , he was a member of the group called The Turkish Five . These were the first Turkish composers who adapted the Ottoman musical tradition to the methods of Western classical composition.
In 1949 he entered the diplomatic service. He worked as a Turkish cultural attaché in Bern and Bonn. He died at the age of 90 in Ankara, on February 16, 1999.
The creative heritage consists of symphonic works, chamber music and piano pieces. His most famous work is “Concert for violin and orchestra” (1969).
