Career
Metzelder began his professional career in 2001 at the Preussen club (Münster) .
Two years later, he joined the Dortmund Borussia , where his older brother, Christoph , was performing at that time. Malta rarely appeared in the first team, he spent only 9 matches, all in the 2003/04 season, as well as 2 minutes on the field in the UEFA Cup match against Vienna's Austria .
In 2005, Malta left Dortmund and joined Aalen , playing in the South Regional League .
Two years later, Metzelder moved to Ingolstadt 04 , with whom he made his way to the Second Bundesliga in the first season.
In the summer of 2014, he completed his career as a football player due to knee problems [2] .
In March 2017, Metzelder completed a master's program in sports management at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, and in April he took up the post of sports director in his native Preussen club Munster [3] .
