Bihmore

Beehmore ( Eng. Beaghmore ) - megalithic complex of the early Bronze Age , located in the county of Tyrone , Northern Ireland [1] ; also the townland on whose territory the facilities are located. Megaliths are among the historical monuments protected by the state; the coordinates of the structure according to the Irish coordination grid - H684 842 (the coordinates of individual structures: tour - H6872 8470, tour - H6856 8472, a stone circle with standing stones - H6830 8401, tour and its area - H6863 8431) [2] [3] .

The complex was opened in the early 1940s. during the slicing of peat [4] and partially excavated in 1945-1949, when it was taken under state protection. Another excavation took place in 1965. It is possible that the full complex has not yet been studied [1] .

Excavations showed that some of the stones were installed in response to deterioration of soil fertility [5] . After excavation, it turned out to be necessary to build a system of drainage channels in order to reduce the likelihood of waterlogging of the construction area [1] .

In some - however, not in all - tours, buried bones were found; the structure itself could be used for astronomical purposes, however, from this point of view, the stones are arranged somewhat sloppy [1] .
