History
It was built by Damascus architect Ali ibn Mishimish by order of Aydinoglu Isa Bey [1] . In the XIX century, the mosque was used as a caravanserai .
Architecture
The mosque consists of a prayer hall and a courtyard. The fountain inside the courtyard is surrounded by 12 columns. The mosque has two main entrances, from east and west. Two domes with a diameter of 9.4 and 8.1 meters rise above the prayer hall. Building materials are borrowed from the ruins of Ephesus. The western wall is covered with marble and has engraved inscriptions of geometric shapes. Other walls are made of ashlar. The mosque was built asymmetrically (48x56 meters). The upper part of the brick minaret is destroyed. The minaret, located on the western side of the mosque, was completely destroyed [1] .
