In the mid-1960s, the Bugis district, the site of a modern complex, was notorious for the transsexuals and transvestites who "worked" on Bugis Street . During the construction of the complex, the appearance of the district changed dramatically, but the characteristic features of the old Bugis were preserved - well courtyards and storefronts.
"PARCO Bugis Junction" is a street under a glass canopy and with air conditioning. The facades of the sections are stylized as Peranakan houses with aerial bridges and elaborate cornices. The complex includes about 120 shops, kiosks, department stores and boutiques. The market square is decorated with a fountain and sculptures. Bugis Village on the opposite side of Victoria Street has Pasar Malam (night market).
The construction of the complex was completed in 1995 , it is owned by BCH Investments Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Keppel Land ". Companies CapitaLand's "," REIT ”And“ CapitaMall Trust ”own part of the complex. The shopping center also includes shopping streets covered with glass canopies, which were the first in Singapore.
