Biography
Born in 1791. He entered the service on July 21, 1806 as a junker in the Cavalier Guard regiment . January 29, 1808 promoted to standard-junkers and September 20 of the same year to Cornets. He participated with cavalry guards in campaigns: in 1807 and 1812 he was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 4th degree for the battle of Borodin. In 1813 he was in reserve squadrons. In 1814, Grevs participated in the battle of Ferschampenoise and was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir, 4th Degree [1] .
In 1816, by the decision of Alexander I , Grevs was transferred from cavalry guards to the army Kargopol dragoon regiment for participating in a fraudulent card game and further unauthorized investigation of the incident involving regiment officers. During the translation, the position of Greves was preserved, which meant an increase in the rank of two levels [1] .
In 1817 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. In 1820 he was appointed commander of the 1st Bug Lanced Regiment , and in the same year promoted to colonel. In 1824 he was removed from command and put on trial and found guilty of embezzlement of official money, arbitrarily taken to purchase hay for horses, but in 1826 he was released from court and collection. In 1828 he was appointed commander of the Kinburn Dragoon Regiment . On August 14, 1829, he was promoted to major general with the appointment of being the head of the 2nd Cuirassier Division [1] .
In 1831 he was in business at Sokold. In 1832 he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree [1] .
In 1834, along with other commanders of the Bug Lanced Regiment, he was put on trial for falsely demanding 300 thousand rubles for keeping military settlers in hospitals, which were not actually there. The money was used to improve living conditions, which was taken into account in the sentencing, which ultimately resulted in removal from service without the right of further appointment [2] . However, already in 1839, Grevs was again appointed to the service with the rank of Major General in the 7th Light Cavalry Division . In 1842 he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 1 degree . In 1843 he was appointed commander of the 1st Light Cavalry Division and in the same year promoted to lieutenant general. He served until his death [1] .
