Tourism in the Yaroslavl region is one of the priority and actively developing sectors of the economy of the Yaroslavl region . It is represented by cultural tourism (museum, event, ethnographic), business and congress tourism are also growing. Educational, recreational, environmental, wellness and school tourism are on the rise.

According to the rating of the Expert RA rating agency, the region holds the 18th place in the Russian Federation in tourism potential [1] .

Three cities of Yaroslavl region are included in the Golden Ring of Russia - Yaroslavl , Rostov the Great and Pereslavl-Zalessky . The historical center of Yaroslavl is a UNESCO World Heritage Site , the city has about 800 state-protected architectural monuments [2] . Tunoshna Airport has an international status. [7] In 2012, the number of tourists visiting the region exceeded 2 million. 84 hotels with 6,500 beds operate in the region, [4] while Yaroslavl in terms of the availability of hotel rooms per thousand inhabitants (5.77) exceeds the values ​​of Moscow (2.5) and St. Petersburg (3.22). [8] In 2014, the region was visited by 3.2 million tourists, of which 264 thousand were foreign tourists, most of whom were residents of Spain, the USA and Germany [9] .
