Aul Akan-Barak is young in comparison with other villages of the Shal akyn district of the North Kazakhstan region.
It was formed in the early 1930s. In 1932, the procurement office of the Tonkeria district was formed, the center of the district was the village of Maybalik. Workers in the procurement office lived in the Akan-Barak aul. It was a small village in 2-3 houses, which got its name from the fact that brothers named Akan and Barak lived on its territory. During collectivization, several villages of the Atigay clan of the sub-genus Bayimbet joined together in the Bulak aul, now it is the village of Zhana-Talap. One part of Jean-Talap is called “Akan-Barak”. In place of the Akan-Barak cemetery there are 3 stones, two of them are the graves of the brothers Akan and Barak, and the third is the grave of akyn (the name has already been lost).
Akan is a contemporary of Vali Khan (d. 1819). The youngest wife of Vali Khan - Ayganym (grandmother of Chokan Valikhanov) lived nearby, founded the village of Karatal, about which there is her letter to the Siberian Governor General about the foundation of the village in the Ayu-Tas tract.
The Siberian Bulletin, published by Gregory Spassky, 1820
"... Argintsy in 2 branches of up to 11,000 families. They rule the Middle Horde Khan Vali Ablaev and the foremen: Kulbek, Baizhigit, Akan-biy and Chavpkil batyr. They roam the Ishim and Iseli rivers in the summer and winter, in the Kukcha and Mukcha-tau mountains and in tracts Uch Kundak, Uch-Burlyk and Kylchakty ... "
Until 1957, the aul remained small, no significant events took place in it.
In 1957, on the territory of Akan-Barak aul, the central estate of the fattening state farm was formed, which included Akan-Barak, Zhana-Zhol, Zhanatalap and Kenes auls. The first director of the feed farm was Ibraev Omirbay.
In 1962, part of the lands of the fattening state farm became part of the Maryevsky state farm, including the Akan-Barak aul with fields. The central estate of the fattening farm was transferred to the village of Jean-Zhol, and the village of Akan-Barak became a branch of the Maryev state farm.
The first manager of the department was Kusainov Ergali. The central estate of Maryevsky state farm was located in the city of Sergeevka, and in 1984 the central estate was transferred to Akan-Barak.
In the village there is a secondary school, which was opened in 1979, a library. In the center of the village, a memorial was erected to the fallen participants of the Great Patriotic War.
