History
The parishes of Cattila, Soikkola and Novasolkka are among the oldest in Ingermanland , starting from the 1620s.
Since the beginning of the 18th century, Cattila and Soikkola have been dripping at the Kaprio parish.
In 1740, the parishes of Cattila and Soikkola were merged into one common parish of Cattila-Soikkola.
In 1759, in the parish of Cattila, in the village of Kotly, was built its own wooden parish church for 150 people, consecrated in the name of St. John .
In 1834, the united parish of Cattila-Soikkola-Novasalkk was formed.
In 1865, in the united parish of Cattila-Soikkola-Novasalkk, there were 1,793 people. The parish was part of the West Inglands clan .
In 1869, a pastorate burned in Kotly, but soon a new one was built.
In 1892 the church was overhauled.
Since 1893, the Sunday school has been working in the parish, and the pastor, JE Schwindt, conducted classes in it.
In 1917, the congregation was 1,635 people.
Due to the poverty and small number of parishioners, as well as the large distances between the three churches, the post of pastor in the joint parish often remained vacant.
In 1919, the parishes of Cattila, Soikkola and Novasolkka became independent from each other again. The number of parishioners in them was estimated at about 700 people each [1] .
In the parish villages, in addition to the Finnish Ingermanlanders , there were many Estonians , Russians and Izhora , as well as about 500 people of Vod .
The church was closed in July 1937, its building was rebuilt and put under the club, it housed a cinema. In the postwar years, it was destroyed [2] [3] [4] .
