Belozersky charter

Belozersky charter - a legal act of 1488 , adopted after the entry of the Belozersky principality in the form of governorship into the Russian state two years earlier. Monument to the final stage of the codification of Russian law and an example of Ivan the Great 's policy on the integration of newly-joined lands. Some norms of the Belozersky charter were used in the first all-Russian Code of Laws of 1497 .

The Belozersky charter, consisting of 23 articles, was a collection of procedural, administrative and civil legislation and acted on the territories of Belozersky land in the late XV - early XVI centuries . The first part of the letter is devoted to the distribution of powers between the princely administration and local authorities, the procedure for judicial proceedings was determined, including in the case of murder. The rights of the Belozersk trading people and the amount of trade duties levied on them were established.
