Biography
The time and place of birth are unknown.
From 1453 to 1462 - archimandrite of the Transfiguration Monastery on the forest .
He was the confessor of Grand Duke Vasily Vasilyevich Dark .
May 13, 1462 he was consecrated bishop of Rostov and Yaroslavl with the elevation to the rank of archbishop . The consecration was headed by the Metropolitan of Moscow Theodosius .
In 1463, the relics of the holy noble princes Theodore and his sons David and Constantine were discovered. For some reason, the bodies of these righteous remained unannounced to the earth for more than a hundred years, and the coffins stood in a crypt under the church. During the solemn funeral service that preceded the burial, two people were healed in front of everyone, and soon, two women saw the sight of them, praying at the tombs. The relics were transferred to the church and made known to the incident in Rostov . Archbishop Tryphon did not consider it necessary to go personally to Yaroslavl, but sent there to examine the relics of his archpriest Constantine , a proud and arrogant man. Not believing the words about the miracles that had happened and not meeting the expected honor in his monastery for his person, the archpriest shouted at the archimandrite and so rudely began to examine the relics that he tore off the schematic analogue on Prince Theodore Rostislavovich. For this, he was immediately punished by the disease. When the news of this reached Rostov, Vladyka Tryphon himself felt relaxed for his unbelief. He repented loudly with tears in his lack of faith and ordered to immediately take himself to Yaroslavl, where he received healing. He made a rich contribution to the monastery and no longer wished to return to his department, but spent the rest of the days at the sepulcher of wonderworkers.
On August 6, 1467, he abandoned the diocese and settled in the Yaroslavl Transfiguration Monastery.
He died on December 30, 1468. He was buried in the Yaroslavl Transfiguration Monastery with the blessed Bishop Prokhor (in the schema Tryphon), under the stone chapel of the monastery.
He was honored by the people as a pious ascetic for a righteous and pious life.
